This is one reason that I hold 3-4 IC jobs which are all ST, so if there is a lack of work, I can rely on one of the other jobs.
You could apply for emergency food stamps even if you don't have children. Catholic Charities will help with rent, there is also utility assistance available for your heating and cooling. You need to check and see what is available in your community.
