As an independent contractor, even though you may work for a service, technically, you are your own boss; therefore, the service that you work for has NO obligation to pay into unemployment and this is something you would have had to do, along with everything else that an IC is expected to pay -- so technically as an IC, if you did NOT pay anything in, then NO you are not eligible for unemployment.
