I have worked for a small company for about 3 years and had a great account, which they lost (of course) and now do overflow for Nuance and the work is sporadic at best. I have asked three times for another account, never to be answered one way or the other. I found a PT job outside of MT, where they take out taxes (which I hate with being an IC) and flexible hours and it is a nice PT job and I work when I want at transcription and just use the money to pay off a bill or two. I don't rely on it in any way, shape or form. If I want a day off, I take it, if I run into a bad dictator, I sign off. I give back which I get and that is being treated like dirt.
I feel this job has become less than desirable in so many ways and almost impossible to make a decent wage at. Even at PT, it is a pittance. The line rates are beyond ridiculous and yet they continue to drop, while expectations continue to rise.
