Filing For Unemployment As an IC - vin

Is it possible for those of who have been hired on as ICs but have been dropped due to one of the all too typical reasons to claim unemployment? I suppose it's state-dependent, and I need to check with my local office, but I fear it's coming to that (too many financial obligations to simply keep waiting around for these hiring MTSOs to get on the ball).
