I used all my PTO up by being "sick" so I can actually take the time that I earned off. Had some days with 3 days in a row off. Ah! So nice. I spaced it out enough so I didn't seem too obvious, but in my opinion that is probably your best bet. I will not beg and plead to switch with someone because if no one switches, well then you can't call out sick because they will know. With the new line count, I cannot meet their demand and will no longer get PTO so I used it before it was too late. Who knows when I will be laid off or forced to switch to IC? I encourage everyone to do the same because we will not be able to take time off as they "really need our help right now." I am hanging on until the end and working my side gig, hoping to develop that and not rely so much on this job.
