I recently gave up on this line of work after my last company "merged" with a giant company. It was something like the 8th so-called merger I've been through. Each merger has resulted in increased misery and lowered pay. Just really tired of it all, and for me it was time to get out.
I would never ever advise anyone to go into this dying field. It's maybe okay for some extra cash, but otherwise it's a rocky road.
