Got a "promotion" to QA--giving my notice - Only in this hideous profession Posted: Apr 22nd, 2017 - 11:16 am
Only in MT can you get a promotion that requires more experience and skill and then get rewarded with a DEMOTION in pay. So I was semi-happily plugging along as an MT - never asked nor wanted to be in QA as I only have 10 years' experience (I think it requires a bit more) PLUS I am just not interested in QA -- then my manager says, "congratulations, you are eligible to become a QA." When I tried to politely decline, I was then told "it's either this or they will let you go, as we need more QA."
So, I reluctantly accepted. I've been at it for a month and have received the "you are doing so great!" emails and "see, I told you it would be fine"....however, all it has gotten me is headaches and a big fat (over 400/month) pay deduction. I have to wade thru all different client specs for almost every report so I cannot learn any of them; different physician quirks that you can learn if you only have a few accounts, different rules, different formatting...not to mention having to listen to the WORST of the WORST dictators (and that is saying something since MTs already have 90% horrible dictators as a rule). Then today was the clincher....got an email (after all the great job emails) reaming me saying I'm going "too easy" on the MTs -- I am not marking off for the most ridiculous things (missing a "the" or what should be an optional comma, just stupid things that I REFUSED to mark off for) -- Finally had it - no more - giving my notice after I finish my shift today. And I'm not marking ANYTHING off but REAL patient-care-affecting errors today, which means probably not marking off anything. SO DISGUSTED with this job.
