Date of service wonkiness - CEMT

OK, so recently we changed the rules about DOS once again.

So if a doctor dictates an operative report, does NOT give the date of service or even say "today" in the report... but the admit day is today, which is the same as the date of dictation... would you consider it safe to put today's date as DOS? Do you think we could get an error for NOT putting it under these circumstances?

I did it that way for years before they changed it. Wondering if I should be doing this again. Anyone else doing this?
