Job Requirements:
• an established independent contractor with a dedicated home office and set office hours, although hours need not be solely daytime hours, Monday to Friday, but you must commit to be visible in terms of daily communications via our project management tool, Teamwork.
• available for transcription of a minimum of 60 minutes of audio per 24-hour turn-around, and a minimum of four days/week (note that a guarantee of work is neither implied nor intended), with preference given to those who can work weekends.
• proficient in MS Word and Excel; and
• willing to commit to asking for help when help is needed and offering assistance when other team members need assistance through posting questions and answers on Teamwork.
Equipment/Internet Requirements
- your home office is equipped with one or more standard digital transcription systems that have the ability to open and play downloaded audio files
- Video transcription software, such as the paid version of Express Scribe;
- Your computer is meets MDS’s safety/security requirements, including but not limited to firewall, antivirus program, and password protection installed and running on your computer system(s);
- your computer is equipped with high speed Internet access (via broadband or DSL);
- your computer is equipped with Total Recorder (www.highcriteria.com) or other audio enhancement programs such as Wavepad (which is available as freeware);
- you are comfortable with and competent in using the web as a resource base and can search for and find correct spellings, proper terms and terminologies, and can “sleuth out” unique or unknown information that pertains to your current assignment; and
- you are willing to invest in new hardware/software as computer and audio-recording technologies change.
Benefits and Company Information
Base Pay, Focus Group work: $1.05 p.a.m.
Base Pay, interview work: $0.80 p.a.m.
