Because rates paid to MTs never go up. I have heard of MTSOs charging rates as low as 8 cpl to their clients. That does not leave enough money to pay their employees/ICs a fair rate. I have also heard 11 and 12 cpl, still too low to allow for paying MTs a decent rate. On the other end of the spectrum, I know of an MTSO who charged 2.70 per minute for catching up an account. This was many years ago, though. That would be equivalent to 27 cpl. In my opinion, if you had your own clients and just wanted to keep yourself busy, 12 cpl would still be too low. The MTSOs have whored themselves out at way too low a price, leaving the MTs with too little pay to do the lion's share of the work.
