For court cases, legal nurse consultants are often used to review the charts, determine if proper standard of care was met, etc.. In fact, the legal nurse consultant is often called to testify as a medical expert. However, there doesn't seem to be any preventative system in place. I used to report errors on reports when I found them, since someone else would need to fix it and I, of course, was not allowed to make any corrections. However, I don't think anything was every corrected. They didn't seem to really care. Sad, huh?
