I buy them on Amazon and buy two so that if one wears out, I don't have to quit work to run out and get another. I also work on both my PC and laptop so will bring the backup when I have to work out of my house/on vacation, etc.
My first set, which lasted about 3 years, didn't really 'break', but one day one side of the earphones started crackling. They actually last longer than the $350 Bose I (regrettably) splurged on.
