When I suggested that people get out of MT I was not thinking of anyone in their 70s, I was thinking of people who are younger and still continue to stay because they think they have no choice or just refuse to change. Retail is hard work and I understand what you are saying. A thought that I had was maybe you could volunteer? Some hospitals and libraries have volunteer programs and maybe that could transfer into a paid job, maybe you could work as a literacy tutor. Those are just a suggestion so don't be offended. MTs have unique skills but it is not "the only thing we know," that knowledge carries into other areas, believe it or not.
