This has always been part of our job, even though we are not paid for it. In the olden days, we were paid well enough to compensate us for the time spent. We no longer are paid well enough, but that is just part of the job. No matter how you slice it, you aren't getting paid for it, so feel free to make your stats look worse and your pay less, if that is how you roll.
