is a real job, requires high degree of concentration, quiet and yes, knowledge and experience! They do not get that it is a "real job." Just close your door and don't expect them to understand your needs. In a perfect world being nice is a good thing but when your livelihood is in the mix, you best do what you have to do to protect yourself and your job. Don't expect those people to understand those needs. You would have been better off not telling them what you do IMHO.
