...you probably have other software installed that doesn't show up on your Start menu. When you click the Start button, look down at the bottom and click "All Programs" to see all of the applications installed on your system.
FireFox keeps one file that contains all of your browsing history, so launching another instance of FireFox won't fix that. Instead, change your FireFox settings so it isn't keeping a history of your browsing activity.
Otherwise, use a different browser such as Chrome for everything except work.
