Don't count on it happening. What I did when I had a difficult boss, is I went to a former boss and asked if I could come over to her team. She wanted me on her team, but I guess she couldn't make it happen. I would imagine it could cause a lot of trouble between the 2 bosses.
There is hope, though. Depending on where you work, they change bosses regularly, so your next one may be a good one.
Anyway, I got out of MT completely for all sorts of reasons, and with it, went my mean boss!
