I couldn't agree with you more. Both companies that I work for are very small, retain their employees and seldom advertise. Both offer ST and NO VR. Like the poster above as well, my companies have asked that we not mention the names because of their size and not wanting to be swamped with resumes when they have no openings available.
As the above poster said sometimes you have to take the initiative. Post your resume on other sites, think about social media sites that pertain to MT, etc.
