This just isn't recognized as a problem in health information management or coding. I don't think you are going to find any statistics on it because no one keeps any.
I realize that this is a problem in MT, but continuing to focus on it and being unable to get past it to the point of seeing it everywhere you look in coding is like some kind of MT PTSD. It is like some kind of MT group obsession . . . "it happened to us once and it's going to happen again no matter what we do!"
Your best protection against losing your coding job is to be an excellent coder. If you aren't, you won't have to worry about offshore entities taking your job because another American coder is going to take it first. If you're still in school, hit the books instead of worrying about nonexistent statistics. If you've graduated, get those credentials.
