Hospitals have budgets to meet and will cut costs in whatever areas they can. Medical records are an easy target because those of us working on the patient records are invisible to the patients.

Most physicians are not concerned about the quality of the record, as evidenced by dictating habits and thus are not likely to put pressure on hospital administrators to pay more for quality records.

Outsourcing of transcription began long before the ACA (Obamacare) and it began as a way for hospitals to save money. There may be a few practices or hospitals who still value a quality medical record but for the most part, the money is gone and is not likely coming back.
