I know I have always pretty much tried to give 2 weeks notice and sometimes I was not allowed to give it, and one time was prematurely marched into HR to be told that "well, it was time," and I just thought hey, I quit the job, I don't need to hear that. Just a bunch of baloney that wasn't necessary.
