You should look into iScribes. Just go ahead and apply because it takes about 3 months to get your application processed. $8.50 an hour for training, then minimum of $10 an hour (could be much higher depending on provider you are paired with). Yes, PER HOUR. Not production based. EXTREMELY nice folks all the way around. They are growing and changing and the sky is the limit. Flexible hours, no clocks to punch, much less pressure than MT (where I came from). Part-time-ish to start but you can add a bunch more work as you progress, if desired. You are "in room" with patients during their doctor visits and pull information out of the visit to place into their actual charts. A bit like MT but a little more thought (and more fun).
I would highly suggest doing this instead of taking a Medical Assisting course.
