Possible help...SM - Old Anon

Posted: Nov 28th, 2016 - 11:32 am In Reply to: Having a senior moment... - effect or affect?

The most common use of affect is as a verb and of effect is a noun. The noun effect means result or consequence. Example from my grammar book is: The lawyer's closing statement had an effect on the jury. If you recast your sentence (not saying you have to) to: The possible subsequent effect on fertility was discussed. Effect here is a noun.
