I've posted this several times before. If I didn't have the Verizon Pantech UML290 USB modem, my speed would be 28,800 on a 56k dialup modem, and my PC doesn't even have a dialup modem! You can buy the UML290 on ebay for around $20 and have it activated by Verizon for a monthly fee, and get speeds 5-10 MB. Verizon may still even have it for free, but you would be on a contract. Buy it yourself for no contract, just month to month. I'm sure AT&T and other big companies have their own models of USB modem, but I've used Verizon for years. I live in the middle of nowhere, would be lost without it.
