Thanks for your input. I have taken some tests for jobs outside of MT (written, typing, and software) including a three-hour written that I was surprised I passed. The software tests vary. At one place you might get rated expert level and fail the same software at another employer's depending on the testing software they use. At one place, we couldn't right click or try more than one time for a certain maneuver or it was wrong. Seems ridiculous.
I Googled about personality tests for jobs, and some resources say to always answer "strongly agree/strongly disagree" and some resources say the opposite. I did a sample test at one site that said I showed I was dishonest, not conscientous, etc. (it said because I didn't click "strongly"). Those tests are not a good way to determine if someone is a good fit for the job because one person might answer one way (agree vs strongly agree) but actually have the same feeling about it (too subjective). It amazes me how ignorant businesses seem to be in so many ways. What ever happened to common sense?
