Coding / Medical Billing

Just the facts - Me too

I was a CMT by passing the exam. My credential had some credibility and I took it seriously. AAMT/AHDI diminished that by letting people grandfather in to generate income from dues. They did nothing to lobby employers to value people with certifications and no one took it seriously. AAPC and AHIMA are totally different and set very high standards. Basically, no one works in the coding profession without credentials and employers expect excellence. AHIMA and AAPC both have dues and require CEUs. AAPC addresses outpatient coding and AHIMA represents the inpatient side. Some people belong to both organizations. You cannot compare either one of them to AHDI. For one thing, comparing coding and MT is like comparing apples and oranges.
