Our pay is based on these errors. They can't let one QA person decide an age error is a 1-point error and another decide it's a 3-point error. It has to stay consistent throughout; thus they've decide all numeric errors are critical, as some could be.
It makes sense in theory since our pay cannot be based on one person's subjective thoughts, although can be very unfair.
