it is happening. Nuance did it with 'voice understanding' and it is way more sophisticated than VR. it pulls labs into a report, diagnostics, anything a doctor wants with point-and-click. there is also another entire hospital system that is making the doctors do their own 'transcription' and editing even of surgical reports.
there will be no dictation to transcribe or edit someday.
a short course in health informatics through Coursera and I saw first-hand these programs in action and how the programmers are all competing to come up with these new templates, all to do away with the need for dictation as a narrative...
