Indeed is legit, but there is more to it than that. The problem is that there are few jobs available for inexperienced coders and even fewer remote jobs. The remote jobs are generally with companies that contract with hospitals, so they will require AHIMA credentials. The job ads you find are going to say that you need the CCS, but the school you are looking at only teaches to the CCA which is not going to be accepted. A few of their students have studied on their own and passed the CCS, but you should not assume that you will be one of the ones who manages to succeed against all odds.

Andrews, on the other hand, does teach CCS and their students gave a 97% pass rate on it and the CPC. Most seem to be getting remote jobs right now. They are your best bet. If the agencies you are working with will not use Andrews, you might have to revise your expectations to include local doctors' offices for a few years.

The AAPC and AHIMA have more realistic job listings than indeed. The fb forum Jobs for American Medical Coders has them along with reams of posts from inexperienced coders who can't find a job.
