AHDI does not call CMT anymore - StillAnMT Posted: Aug 23rd, 2016 - 8:56 am In Reply to: Are companies still falling for this CMT certification baloney? - I see on a very big website SM
AHDI (formerly AAMT) has changed the name of that credential. It is now called CHDS (Certified Health Documentation Specialist). And that has been so for quite some time.
So these web sites asking for CMT have not updated anything in a while. Like the web sites that mention the organization as "AAMT" instead of "AHDI." I see a lot of that.
Yes, a worthless certificate that maybe got a raise or promotion in the hospital employee setting. It costs a lot of money to get the CHDS (formerly CMT). And then one has to get continuing education credits to keep up the certification which means belonging to AHDI and a local chapter in order to get to their meetings where they offer the CEC credits - so more money along the way.
I guess once I actually got a paper certificate I could let it run out by not continuing with CECs. What MTSO would know the difference if I sent them a copy of an old CMT certificate? Maybe some, but I doubt many.
