Senior MTs also do approx 20% of their line count as QA at my MTSO (rather than being specialized QA only). We get paid per line but are expected to check the entire file, not just check the marked blanks
Our QA line rate is approx 35% of the MT line rate. When QAing the work of good MTs, it's fine as you can get through the files quickly as it's "fill the blank, proof the rest at fastest audio speed". The other MTs, not so much. It's horrendous what some of them send through unflagged because they think it's fine or make ridiculous guesses because they expect QA to do their research for them.
