I am an MT transitioning to Coding because the MT field is so bad. I am still a student, and it is much harder than I expected. I think your friend who is an RN is in a good position because of all of her on-site experience. I am astounded at how difficult it is even with many years of MT experience. Just wanted to give you a heads up that coding is not an easy field to break into. I had a neighbor who worked as an at-home customer service rep. Maybe something like that could work for you.
