You can convert all your Shorthand entries into an Instant Text glossary and expand with the space bar. Expansions in Instant Text are instantaneous.
If you are using MS Word, just make sure you uncheck Smart cut and paste under Word Options/Advanced.
There may be a setting in Shorthand to accelerate the expansion of long entries.
