Shortthand vs. IT7Pro - MT

So I have a free version of Shorthand and like it for most entries, BUT....

I entered some lengthier entries, and it takes FOREVER for it to produce them on the screen.  Is this a setting?  Is IT7Pro faster at regurging more text?

I have IT7Pro too on this computer but have never used it.  How does one enter (copying and pasting) longer entries without going the Alt = route?  I don't want to get there that way.
