to beat them at their own game and have the kind of life they have is to do what they have done.

Find a need and start a business to fulfill the need. Take the risks, find financing, risk your own money, put in the work to create and maintain the business. Find customers, keep the work flow going, and everything else that is involved with running a business. If the business is successful, you, too, can have everything they have, and there will be no need to envy them.

If acquiring all those trappings of success takes as little effort as you seem to think it does, it should be no problem to achieve the same thing in no time at all.

Whining about what someone else has but not being willing to put in the same effort to get it isn't going to improve your life.

If your job isn't working out for you, figure out what will work and pursue it. Resenting someone else for being successful isn't going to improve your life or reduce their quality of life.

Your envy won't make them miserable, but it will make you miserable. Put the energy you are wasting on envy into improving your own life.
