I wish I never became an MT - sm Posted: Jul 15th, 2016 - 2:26 pm
I was an MT for 12 years for two reasons - I love healthcare and I wanted to work from home. When editing came around and my income dropped more and more, I decided to go back to school. I earned my Bachelor's Degree with a double major, Business Admin and Healthcare Management. For the past three months, I've been job hunting. I've applied to hundreds of jobs. I've had only five interviews. I have not landed a job. My resume consists of MT jobs and before that I did medical billing and that's it. When potential employers ask me about my customer service skills, I pretty much have none. When they ask me how I work in a team, well I was pretty much the entire team except for my virtual co-workers who I never interacted with. I feel that my resume is hindering me and shows only a few skills. I thought I'd be employed by now in something other than MT. But, here I am looking at the job board on this site and the other one about to take all those awful tests and wait to hear from a recruiter who will offer me 8 cents a line. So frustrated. Vent over.
