Punitive. I think it defeats the whole purpose of what QA is supposed to be for. It also gives those that are doing it a sense of power they do not need to have. They tend to use it as a punishment to the mt rather than getting a clean report. And god forbid if personalities come into play and they dont like you for some reason! There is no reason on earth QA needs to dock a workers pay for ANY reason. It shouldnt even be in the equation. I refuse to work for a company that endorses punitive QA.
