If you have insurance and go to a participating provider, even if the insurance doesn't pay until the deductible is met, you will still only have to pay the provider negotiated rate. My PCP charges 150 for an office visit, but the insurance knocks it down to $45, and that is what I have to pay. The rest of marked off as provider responsibility, even though I have not met my deductible. This can amount to thousands of dollars of savings in the case of an ER visit or hospitalization.
