All the hospitals in my area have gone to service. We were told it was "good business practice" because they needed to find some way for years to eliminate FTEs. They told us it comes out of a different budget with the services. Less aggravation for the hospital, and since we were not "hands on patient care" we were easy to eliminate. We did have good benefits and good pay.
