With regards to these dictating clinicians, it could just be that a standard of behavior, even if very low, is now regarded as acceptable because these clinicians are not getting feedback or correction. So, if they don't know there's a problem, they won't fix it. Over the last year, I've commented to my manager about speakers who regularly cough into the microphone, dictate when they have laryngitis, use incorrect terminology, mispronounce drug names, leave the tape running while they take a couple minutes to eat a snack, fall asleep complete with snoring, dictate at the speed of light, dictate over serious background noise, and more. But there has been no change with these behaviors. I'm sure my manager did nothing. Her response was just "do your best." I get it, but I don't like it. I wish I could find a nice doctor, my own account, where we could really work together as a team.
Unfortunately, where I live, I have not yet been able to find a doctor whose practice is not owned by the local medical system which currently sends its dictations to one of the larger MTSOs.
