When I worked as an inhouse MT, we had two outside companies for "overflow" (I don't think they knew about each other). Often we didn't need them for months/weeks. Their coordinators would call seeking work and I think the office manager would throw them a bone.
This is likely a noncompete situation where those companies may not be allowed to hire you. No problem for you to apply, just for them to hire you. Suddenly remembered, that manager notoriously poached 2 underutilized MT from our overflow companies ... and there was a kufuffle. No harm in applying, but you might inquire rather than getting your hopes up/wasting your time.
