Here's another example of Google indexing this forum. - sm

Posted: Apr 26th, 2016 - 5:41 pm In Reply to: Google "that is crazy anon" - again, already - picked up by Google.

Instead of using a post title, I selected text WITHIN a post. I took it from a post on this forum about how MTs would kill for hospital jobs.

"Therefore, the thing to do is find out what your hospital's protocol and documentation requirements are for firing her."

The quotes create an exact phrase search instead of searching for individual words within a phrase.

Try it - including the quotes.

What this illustrates is that Google doesn't just pick up post headings, but dives down into sub-levels to index the posts themselves. This is true of EVERY PUBLIC FORUM. If you don't have to sign on to a forum as a member with a password, Google's search bots can and will grab everything on the forum.

...and here's what that means: There are sophisticated tools available to employers to scrape the web and show what is said - whether about the company by name, or any other content parameters that the employer wishes to specify.

These tools DO NOT WORK on forum sites where you must be a registered member and sign on in order to participate in the discussion, download resources, etc.

Sorry to tell you, but when it comes to public forums like this one, you can consider yourself a "published author" with respect to your posts. Whether you're to be congratulated or not is another matter entirely.
