On one of my accounts there's a cardiothoracic surgeon who is not a great dictator, but I manage, with a little grumbling on the side. After one of his dictations he didn't disconnect correctly, so I was able to hear further conversation (yes, call me a snoop!). He took a phonecall from someone who was clearly his daughter, maybe middle school or young high school, and I couldn't really make out anything she was saying, but it became clear that she was having difficulty with her scheduling between 2 extracurricular school activities (sports team vs drama). He took a great deal of time advising her and helping her try to figure out what to do. He seemed very patient, very wise, offered to speak to the teacher if she was OK with that, and so forth. Wow, what a great dad!!!! Now, I have to admit that I'm a lot more forgiving when I type his reports!
