I didn't bother to find another job doing MT. Especially since my UE was more money than I was pulling in while working. After the UE ran out, I did occasional freelance general transcription projects for what amounted to roughly $15/hr, and last summer I finally was old enough to apply for Social Security.
There are other types of jobs out there, but when I did the math regarding the cost of fuel and car upkeep to get to them, it was always a loss, and it was more cost-effective to remain unemployed.
