An enlightening moment - mom22

Posted: Nov 18th, 2015 - 9:08 pm

Tonight, I was fixing a sandwich and listening to my son and his friend from another state talking.  My son's friend just turned 16.  He was very excited to announce he got his first job.  And you know what?  He will be making more than I do per week, even with good metrics.  Middle aged, 25+ years experience tucked under my belt, and a job at 16 in a gas station is making more.

Let that sink in.  Talk about feeling defeated and depressed.  I put the bread back in the bag, the items in the fridge, and now I'm going to bed because I don't have the energy to even think of it anymore.
