Somewhere in the dark past of MT history - MeMTLongTime

Posted: Oct 9th, 2015 - 3:13 pm In Reply to: Why is this considered documentation? - The dictator cannot even READ the reports

Somewhere in the dark past of MT history, a service owner decided it would be a good idea to do whatever it takes, including translation, to provide a complete report, instead of insisting the dictator provide quality oration. It's been downhill ever since.

This has ultimately affected the MT industry in many ways. Companies must now PAY people to proofread and correct reports due to the simple fact physicians aren't required to speak clearly enough to produce a correct, precise medical document, a document that could potentially adversely affect a patient's care.

Who among us hasn't been in the middle of an extremely challenging dictation/transcription, only to have the difficult dictator answer a phone call and speak perfectly clear English? As soon as that conversation is over, it's back to gibberish. They've been allowed to do it for so long, it's commonplace.
