know much about medical scribe jobs? - MostlyClueless

Posted: Oct 4th, 2015 - 12:35 am

I see that a local orthopedics practice is looking to hire a scribe, which is the first job posting for a (non-ER) scribe that I've ever seen in our community.  I didn't see a discussion of Medical Scribes when searching here at the forum archives, but may have missed it.  The ortho office listing says they "prefer" to hire someone who has the CMSA or CMSS.

Below is a site I found, and these people seem to have the corner on the market (?) for certification. It doesn't look terribly difficult to go through the process, especially for apprentice (CMSA).

Does anyone have knowledge about non-ER scribe work, or do you know someone who already does it?  Has anyone studied their materials and taken their test?  Is the job stressful, and what does it pay?  Any details appreciated.  It seems like the ER scribe jobs are mostly taken by medical students and are minimum wage, but I wonder if these non-ER scribe jobs are far different.
