However, the number of straight typing positions seems to be decreasing very rapidly. Editing requires a different skill set than transcribing. It is very likely that at some point, if a person does not wish to edit, they will need to find a different field. There may be a few positions here and there that allow straight transcription but they are evaporating and quickly. This is also compounded by the fact that more places are utilizing point-and-click as well. Everyone needs to evaluate for themselves how long they can afford to be tied to transcription and if it is worth it to them to continue in this field.
