My experience - OldsterMT

Trust me, the grass is not always greener. I cut back transcription to part time and went to work in a medical office. The pay was crap, but I figured it was better to have a paycheck that was consistent. I knew the physician for a few years, I knew the staff, so I thought it would be a good fit. I worked harder for less money, was under appreciated, did many more jobs than originally told the job description involved, the work schedule and my work days changed a couple of times, and the list goes on. Keep in mind that when you work in a medical office, you will never get out on time, you will almost always work later than your designated hours (this is not just my experience). There were minimal benefits to speak of (a couple days of paid vacation after a year).

So, unless you work full time, get as much per hour as you average being an MT, get benefits such as part of your health insurance paid for, paid holidays, paid for days off when the office is closed, consider some place besides a medical office.

You might want to look for jobs that are clerical, but not medical.

Best of luck in everyone's future.
