Curious as to what medical coding is - I only have a vague idea

Anyone care to give a brief description of what you do?  All I know is that is has to do with reimbursement.  What is a typical day for you?  Do medical reports pop up on your screen, you look for reasons the patient had service, and then search for proper codes to assign, then you send that report away and a new one pops up?  Or???  Is it mostly computer work or are you on the phone a lot?
